Game 2 of 4

June 25, 2019

It was a cool and crisp evening at Routine Field, with the team celebrating the city of Franklin. The Milkmen dominated the night with a huge 8-2 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

The night was all about the kids with the on field inter-inning activities and plenty of foul-balls for the fans to turn in to enjoy some free popcorn (courtesy of Pop’s Kettle Corn).

Milwaukee brought the energy and the heat early in the first inning with Manuel Boscan, Jose Rosario, and Adam Walker each batting in a run, and Rosario with an RBI double.

The RailCats got on the board in the third inning off a solo homer by Andy DeJesus. The seventh inning saw the RailCats score their second and final run of the evening by a fielding error by the Milkmen third baseman Jose Rosario.

Milwaukee would answer in the seventh with a two-run homer by Garrett Copeland, his second of the year. The Milkmen finished the scoring in the eighth with an RBI single from Dan Ward, an RBI single for Sam Dexter, and a sacrifice RBI from Copeland (giving him three RBIs on the night).

The Milkmen finished with 13 hits and 7 left on base, while the RailCats got 6 hits and left 6 on base.

Both starting pitchers went the distance, with Milkmen starter Kurt Heyer snagging the win with a complete 9 innings, allowing six hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and seven strikeouts. It was Heyer’s third win of the season, giving him an overall 3-4 record with a 4.08 ERA.

RailCats starting pitcher, Lars Liguori threw all of the RailCats’ 8 defensive innings. Ligouri finished the game allowing 13 hits, 8 runs (all earned), 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts in a
loss.

The Milkmen (16-21) look to keep the good times rolling in the third game of the series Wednesday, June 26th with the RailCats (14-21) at Routine Field with a 7:05 PM first pitch.
