First-place Milkmen secure spot in Miles Wolff Cup Playoffs as pursuit of East Division title continues

The Milwaukee Milkmen are officially playoff bound.

With Monday's victory over the Cleburne Railroaders, the Milkmen became the first team in the American Association of Professional Baseball to clinch a spot in the 2026 Miles Wolff Cup Playoffs, securing a return to postseason baseball with 13 games remaining in the regular season.

Milwaukee enters the final stretch of the season atop the East Division with a 52-35 record (.598), holding a 2.5-game advantage over the Lake Country DockHounds. The Milkmen have won four consecutive games, but with a playoff berth now secured, their attention remains on what comes next.

"It's been a good year so far, but like I told the guys, this is just one step," said Milwaukee Milkmen Field Manager Anthony Barone. "We have a list of things we want to accomplish, and it's part of the process. As the old saying goes, the job's not done yet."

The Milkmen's success has been fueled by a core group that carried momentum from the end of the 2025 season into this year's campaign.

"The way last year ended, we got on a roll, and those guys that decided to return, I thought we could build a special core group and have a special season because their main thing last year is they just wanted to win," Barone said. "In independent baseball, if you want to win, that's like half the battle. It's a good group of guys in the clubhouse right now."

THE ROAD TO THE PLAYOFFS CONTINUES AT FRANKLIN FIELD

While the Milkmen have secured their place in the postseason, the race for the East Division title continues.

Following three home games this week against the Lincoln Saltdogs, the Milkmen return to Franklin Field September 4-7 for the final four games of the 2026 regular season, with a full Labor Day Weekend of baseball, promotions and family entertainment:

  • Friday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 PM — Drone Show + First Responder Appreciation Night: Kick off the final homestand with a postgame drone show, plus a complimentary ticket for first responders.
  • Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6:00 PM — Area 414 Night: Celebrate Milwaukee with Area 414 Night and a special UFO-themed glow headwear giveaway for the first 1,000 fans, presented by Educators Credit Union.
  • Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 PM — Sunday Funday: Bring the kids to Franklin Field for an afternoon of family fun, including FREE donuts for kids.
  • Monday, Sept. 7 at 1:00 PM — Back-to-School Celebration: Close out the regular season with Kids Eat FREE plus a complimentary ticket for teachers as the Milkmen celebrate students, families and educators.

With the East Division title still on the line and postseason baseball ahead, the final homestand gives fans four more opportunities to be part of the Milkmen's 2026 regular-season run at Franklin Field.

And Barone says playing meaningful late-season games in front of the home crowd makes a difference.

"We love our fans. Milwaukee’s great. They're very supportive," Barone said. "When you get down to the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, those are the go-time innings, and your fans are supporting you or rallying you to score a run or get that big strikeout. The fans play a big role in your confidence."
